Custom orthodontic retainers to keep your teeth straight after braces or Invisalign. Walk-in fittings at our Al Barsha 1 clinic — 5 minutes from Mall of the Emirates.
A dental retainer is a custom-made orthodontic appliance that keeps your teeth in their corrected position after braces or Invisalign. Without one, teeth naturally drift back toward where they started — often within months. At Tooth-Tastic in Al Barsha 1 we make every type: the classic Hawley retainer, clear Vivera-style retainers, and fixed (permanent / lingual) retainers bonded behind the front teeth.
Custom-fit
Hawley · Clear · Fixed
Confused by all the names? Most are variations on three core types. Here is what each one does.
Acrylic plate + metal front wire
The classic, adjustable retainer. A metal wire crosses the front teeth and the acrylic body sits against the palate or behind the lower teeth. Durable — often lasts 5+ years. Allows minor adjustments if needed.
Transparent thermoplastic tray (Essix-style or Vivera)
Looks like an Invisalign aligner — virtually invisible. Vivera versions are made from stronger material than basic Essix. The natural follow-on retainer after Invisalign treatment.
Thin wire bonded behind front teeth (lingual)
Also called a permanent or lingual retainer. A thin wire is bonded to the back of your upper or lower front teeth — invisible from the front, no compliance needed because it never comes out. Requires floss-threaders or interdental brushes for hygiene.
Combined approach: Many patients have a fixed retainer behind the front teeth plus a clear removable retainer for nights — best of both worlds. We will recommend the right combination for your case.
Honest pricing. The exact cost depends on the retainer type and the number of teeth covered.

At Tooth-Tastic, dental retainers are priced from AED 300 per tooth. The exact cost depends on the type of retainer (Hawley, clear, fixed) and how many teeth need to be covered. We confirm the price after a free check-up.
A Hawley retainer is the classic acrylic plate with a metal wire across the front teeth — durable, adjustable, removable. A clear retainer (Essix or Vivera-style) is a transparent thermoplastic tray that looks like an Invisalign aligner — discreet but not adjustable. A fixed retainer (also called permanent or lingual retainer) is a thin wire bonded behind your front teeth — invisible, no compliance needed, but requires careful flossing.
Yes, in almost every case. Without a retainer, teeth naturally drift back toward their original position. Most patients wear a retainer full-time for 3–6 months after braces, then nightly long-term. Invisalign patients often switch straight to a Vivera-style retainer.
A well-cared-for clear retainer typically lasts 1–3 years before it shows wear or warping and needs replacing. Avoiding hot drinks while wearing it and cleaning gently extends life. Vivera retainers are generally more durable than basic Essix.
For many patients, yes. A fixed lingual retainer means you cannot forget to wear it and it provides constant retention of the front teeth. The trade-off is that flossing requires a threader or interdental brush, and if a wire detaches, prompt re-bonding is needed.
Yes. If your teeth have moved a little, a new retainer can hold the current position and prevent further drift. If they have shifted significantly, a short course of clear aligners or Invisalign may be needed first to realign before a fresh retainer.
Yes. We can scan your teeth and produce a Vivera-style clear retainer that fits like your final Invisalign tray — ideal as a long-term replacement when your aligners need refreshing.
Walk in or WhatsApp us as soon as possible. Teeth start drifting within days without a retainer. We can scan and fit a replacement retainer quickly to keep your alignment locked in.
