Gold Teeth, Grills, and Gold Crowns in Dubai: What's Available (and What We Recommend)
Are gold dental crowns or gold grills available in Dubai? Here is what modern dentistry actually offers β and why most clinics now use Zirconia and Emax instead.
Gold teeth show up in pop culture, traditional dentistry, and the occasional Dubai social media post. Patients sometimes ask: can I get a gold tooth crown in Dubai? What does it cost? Is it still a thing?
Here is the modern dental view on gold teeth, gold crowns, and grills β plus what we actually offer at Tooth-Tastic.
A short history of gold in dentistry
Gold has been used in dentistry for centuries. It was the gold standard (literally) for crowns and inlays for decades because:
- It is biocompatible β the body accepts it well.
- It is highly malleable β fits precisely.
- It is extremely durable β gold restorations can last 20β40 years.
- It does not corrode.
So why is gold no longer the default? Three reasons:
- Aesthetics β modern patients overwhelmingly prefer tooth-coloured restorations.
- Material innovation β Zirconia and Emax now match goldβs strength while looking like natural teeth.
- Cost β gold prices fluctuate, and modern ceramics are typically more affordable.
Gold dental crowns β are they still available?
Some clinics worldwide still fit gold crowns on back molars where aesthetics donβt matter and bite force is high. The honest reality:
- Gold molar crowns still perform extremely well clinically.
- Cost in Dubai is significantly higher than Zirconia (price varies with gold market).
- Most patients now choose Zirconia for the same strength with a natural appearance.
At Tooth-Tastic in Al Barsha 1, we donβt stock gold crowns. We use:
- Zirconia crowns (AED 650β800 per tooth) β exceptionally strong, metal-free, natural-looking.
- Emax crowns (AED 700 per tooth) β premium glass ceramic with the most lifelike translucency.
For the vast majority of patients, these deliver goldβs strength without the cost, the gold-coloured aesthetics, or the metal allergy concerns.
See our complete dental crowns page for details.
Gold grills β fashion vs function
Gold grills are removable jewellery worn over the front teeth, popularised by hip-hop culture. They are not a dental treatment β they are a fashion accessory.
Common questions about grills:
- Are they safe? Worn occasionally for short periods, generally yes. Worn long-term or while eating, they trap food and bacteria against the teeth and can cause cavities and gum problems.
- Can my dentist fit one? Custom-fit grills exist but are typically made by specialist jewellers, not general dentists. We do not fit them at Tooth-Tastic.
- Is there a permanent gold tooth option? A gold crown is the closest thing β fitted on a real tooth, permanent, but only on one tooth at a time and at significant cost.
Gold tooth price in Dubai
Gold tooth pricing is highly variable because it depends on the live gold spot price and the weight of gold used. As a rough indicator:
- A gold crown at clinics that still offer them often costs 2β4Γ the price of an equivalent Zirconia crown.
- Custom gold grills (jewellery, not dentistry) start in the low thousands of AED and can run to tens of thousands depending on number of teeth covered and gold karat.
For comparison, our Zirconia and Emax crowns at Tooth-Tastic start at AED 650 β and look indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
What we recommend
If your goal is a damaged or missing tooth restored properly:
- We recommend Zirconia or Emax crowns. Modern, metal-free, exceptional strength, natural look.
- For multiple missing teeth: dental bridges (from AED 800) or dentures (from AED 800).
If your goal is a cosmetic gold look:
- A custom gold grill from a specialist jeweller is the closest match. We can discuss the dental safety considerations (oral hygiene under the grill, occasional vs daily wear).
- Permanent gold work would be a single gold crown, which we do not currently offer.
